On Saturday, October 7th, students and instructors attended the 27th American International Karate Championships at the RIT Inn & Conference Center. Congratulations to Nicholas, Brendan, Sempai Hannah, Sempai Paul, Sempai MaryLou, and Sempai Rich on their performances in kata, weapons, and semi contact fighting. They all did well and brought home several trophies and medals. Shihan Chris, Sensei Matt, Sensei Mike, and Sensei Chuck served as officials for kata, weapons, and breaking.

On Saturday, September 20th, our students particpated in the annual American International Karate Championships at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, NY.

On Saturday, October 19th several travelled to Herkimer County Community College for the Diamond Valley Classic, hosted by Bailey's Karate School - Herkimer. We were joined by a few of our fellow students from the Galway Karate Club as well as Sensei Beth came up from Binghamton University.

On September 21st we went to the annual Kyokushin tournament at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

{jcomments on}It was a spectacular weekend in Albany for the North East Open. It started Friday evening with the Gala. About 160 people were in attendance at the Gala, which featured key  note speeches from Master Paul Fracchia, Master Miichael Campos, and Master Craig McDonald. During the Gala there was a trivia contest as well as some entertaining videos.

On Saturday, June 16th, a few of us traveled to the other side of the county. We went to Hilton High School where Russ Davenport and Liam Anderson competed. Sensei Chris helped with officiating and coaching. Sempai Chuck assisted with getting our competitors ready and making sure they were in the correct divisions. Sempai Taylor was there to be our official photographer and videographer.

Some of our students competed at the 19th American International Championships on October 10th, 2009. The event was held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

On February 4th, 85+ people gathered to celebrate and thank Grandmaster Paul Munchbach for his nearly 34 years of service as the head instructor of the Galway Karate Club. In December he stepped down as the head instructor and turned over those responsibilities to Shihan Chris Malley, Grandmaster Munchbach's first black belt.

Several promotions have been earned and were recognized in class on September 24th. Shihan Chris along with Sensei Matt presented diplomas and belts.

This was a packed weekend for Golden Eagle Martial Arts. We started with a shodan (1st degree black belt) test for Sempai Mike and capped it off with an all day/all night affair at the American International Karate Championships.

Sensei Beth graduated on May 12th from SUNY Cortland magna cum laude with a B.S. in Sport Management. Today she starts her internship for the Northeast Open, which is required to complete her degree.
